Amanda joined the team as an assistant editor in June 2012. She became senior copy editor April, 2018.
She grew up in a combination of Midwest states — South Dakota, Kansas, and Nebraska — and graduated from the University of Kansas in 2011 with degrees in journalism and creative writing. After graduation, she worked as a designer and editor for a small newspaper in Southeast Kansas, and almost one year later scored the position at MOTHER EARTH NEWS and moved back up to Lawrence, Kansas. In 2015, she moved to Seattle, where she continues to work for the magazine remotely.
She enjoys brewing herbal potions, making DIY beauty products, and reading and writing about health, literature, and sustainability. She’s currently invested in pipeline resistance, waste reduction, public transportation, building community resilience, and sobriety.
